Job Title:
Mechanical Drafter / Designer Job Description This role focuses on layout drafting and mechanical design for a major filtration system project in a new facility. You will create detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings, working closely with engineering and project teams to translate concepts into accurate, buildable designs. The position suits a self-starter who enjoys mechanical layout work, especially within Revit, and who wants to grow professionally while contributing to a high-impact project. Responsibilities Develop detailed mechanical layout drawings for filtration systems to be installed in a new facility. Create and update 3D models using Revit and SolidWorks to support mechanical design and drafting activities. Produce accurate fabrication drawings, CAD models, and blueprints for mechanical components and structures. Interpret engineering concepts, specifications, and design requirements and translate them into clear, buildable drawings. Collaborate with engineers and other designers to ensure designs meet project, structural, and mechanical requirements. Review and revise drawings based on feedback, design changes, and field conditions. Ensure all drafting work adheres to project standards, quality expectations, and applicable design practices. Support one of the organization's largest projects by providing timely and accurate drafting deliverables. Maintain organized drawing files and documentation for ongoing and future project needs. Essential Skills Approximately 3 years of experience in drafting. Approximately 3 years of experience working with Revit for layout drafting and 3D modeling. Proficiency in mechanical drafting and mechanical design. Experience with 3D modeling in a mechanical design environment. Ability to perform layout drafting for mechanical systems, including filtration or similar process systems. Strong understanding of CAD tools and blueprint creation for mechanical and structural elements. Proficiency with SolidWorks for mechanical design and drafting. Ability to read, interpret, and produce fabrication drawings and mechanical blueprints. Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership of design tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design or Drafting, or equivalent relevant education. Open to candidates with no degree who demonstrate strong drafting and design skills and a desire to design. Willingness to consider entry-level candidates who show strong potential and interest in mechanical drafting and design. Experience creating fabrication drawings, CAD models, and structural layouts. Interest in working on large, complex engineering projects with opportunities for growth. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality drawings. Work Environment The role is primarily based in a cubicle office setting, where you will perform drafting and design work using Revit, SolidWorks, and other CAD tools. You will also spend occasional time on the facility floor to understand equipment layouts and field conditions, supporting accurate and practical designs. The environment supports professional growth, exposure to a major project, and collaboration with engineering and project teams. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Brooklyn Park, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
