Opportunity:
A growing manufacturing organization serving commercial and defense markets is seeking a highly motivated CAD Designer to join its Charlotte-based team. This role is ideal for a dependable, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working on custom packaging and product design projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will possess strong SolidWorks experience, a commitment to quality and safety, and the ability to manage multiple projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Use SolidWorks CAD software to create 3D parts and assemblies for custom foam inserts and packaging solutions. Develop detailed 2D fabrication drawings used by production teams for manufacturing and installation. Modify and customize existing CAD files for transit cases and foam inserts. Design custom packaging solutions for outsourced manufacturing. Maintain and organize CAD file libraries, ensuring proper file management and references. Create CAM files for waterjet cutting equipment using IGEMS software (training provided). Collaborate with Sales teams to gather project requirements and specifications. Support the development of photorealistic product renderings with external resources. Interpret and apply military and industry standards with guidance from management. Assist with occasional assembly work and operation of manufacturing equipment under supervision. Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and quality processes. Qualifications.: Completion of a Digital Design program, Engineering degree, or related technical discipline. Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software. Experience designing products for manufacturability. Ability to create detailed and accurate 2D technical drawings Experience using measuring tools such as digital calipers, tape measures, and rulers. Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and technical documentation. Understanding of quality management systems (ISO, TQM, 5S, etc.) is preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while contributing as a collaborative team member. Results-driven with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Capable of managing multiple projects and competing priorities. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screening.
