Job Title:
CAD Draftsperson Job Description The CAD Draftsperson supports a diverse product portfolio, manufacturing operations, customer requirements, and overall business objectives by creating, modifying, and managing high‑quality engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle. This role focuses on producing and maintaining accurate 3D CAD models and fully defined engineering drawings, including precise dimensioning, tolerancing, and annotations, while actively supporting Engineering Change Management activities within Windchill and SAP. Responsibilities Create new and modify existing 3D CAD models and engineering drawings based on engineering direction and approved standards. Properly dimension, tolerance, and annotate drawings to clearly communicate design intent, fit, form, and function. Apply GD&T and drafting best practices appropriate to the product design and manufacturing processes. Ensure drawings accurately reflect materials, finishes, assembly methods, and critical features required for manufacturing and inspection. Maintain drawing consistency, including title blocks, revision blocks, and metadata, in accordance with established drafting standards. Follow local Design Control procedures and comply with all applicable domestic and international regulatory requirements. Support Engineering Change Orders by implementing drawing and document revisions and ensuring all changes are accurately documented. Use Windchill to manage CAD data, drawings, revisions, and change records throughout the product lifecycle. Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure drawings support manufacturability, quality, and inspection requirements. Develop and update supporting documentation such as work instructions, assembly drawings, and component specifications under engineering guidance. Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for assemblies and ensure consistency between CAD, Windchill, and SAP records. Understand manufacturing processes at a high level and reflect appropriate design intent in CAD models and drawings. Create and maintain engineering-related data in SAP, including material masters, BOMs, and document references, as applicable. Organize, file, and maintain electronic engineering documents according to established procedures and documentation standards. Manage workload, priorities, and deadlines effectively while providing clear status updates to engineers and supervisors. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting standards, documentation quality, and change management processes. Essential Skills At least 8 years of related CAD drafting experience. Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawing creation. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, including dimensioning and tolerancing. Ability to apply GD&T and drafting best practices to support product design and manufacturing. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs). Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and cross-functional teams. Strong organizational skills for managing electronic engineering documents and records. Effective time management skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Drafting or CAD certification. Experience with SAP for managing material masters, BOMs, and engineering-related data. Experience with Windchill or similar Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline. Familiarity with Design Control procedures and regulatory documentation requirements. Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives in drafting or documentation processes. Work Environment The role is based in a very clean manufacturing environment that includes laboratory and office spaces dedicated to the development and production of dental products. The facility manufactures dental components and consumables such as endodontic posts, self‑threading para‑pulpal pins, and various dental laboratory and hygiene products. Work is primarily performed using CAD tools and PLM/ERP systems such as 3D CAD software, Windchill, and SAP, in a professional setting that emphasizes precision, documentation quality, and adherence to established procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00/hr.
