Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CAD Draftsman Detailer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise technical sheet metal drawings and detailed models that support various mechanical projects. The CAD Draftsman & Detailer is responsible for preparing detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models used in the design, fabrication, and assembly of equipment and components. This role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks). The ideal candidate will also have experience with press brake and laser programming. The Draftsman & Detailer will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, programmers, and fabrication personnel to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and production ready. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects, utilizing your technical skills and comprehensive understanding of engineering standards to produce clear, accurate documentation. Responsibilities Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software. Create accurate fabrication, machining, and assembly drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and bills of materials (BOMs). Review and interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design concepts to produce final detailed drawings. Ensure all drawings adhere to company and industry drafting standards. Work closely with engineering and shop personnel to clarify design intent and resolve drawing-related issues. Update and maintain drawing revisions and document control within the company CAD/PDM system. Assist in the development of standard components, drawing templates, and documentation procedures. Perform occasional field measurements and verification of existing equipment for retrofit or upgrade projects. Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase drafting and manufacturing efficiency. Develop pricing for fabricated parts and assemblies. Skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Solid understanding of engineering documentation and revision control. Problem-solving mindset with initiative to improve designs and processes. Hands-on understanding of fabrication and manufacturing workflows. 2-5 years of experience in CAD drafting and detailing within a manufacturing, automation, or industrial environment. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D modeling software. Experience producing shop drawings, weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts. Experience with press brake programming and laser programming preferred. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), fabrication practices, and manufacturing processes. Experience Understanding of mechanical assemblies, materials, and production methods 2-5 years of experience in CAD drafting and detailing within a manufacturing, automation, or industrial environment. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D modeling software. Experience producing shop drawings, weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts. Experience with press brake programming and laser programming preferred. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), fabrication practices, and manufacturing processes. Education Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or can demonstrate proficiency in the desired areas outlined in the job description.
Pay:
$31.00 - $36.00 per hour
