The Opportunity:

This opportunity provides professionals with hands-on involvement in designing life safety and integrated building systems. Become a key technical contributor, working closely with project teams to ensure code compliance, precision in design, and seamless project delivery for impactful security infrastructure projects in the Salem, Oregon area.
Responsibilities:
Develop shop drawings, voltage/battery calculations, and equipment lists for fire alarm and low voltage systems, ensuring adherence to NFPA, local, and state codes. Prepare and coordinate submittal packages and obtain AHJ, contractor, and owner approvals. Collaborate with MEP teams, general contractors, and other trades to ensure coordinated project delivery. Perform accurate field surveys and translate findings into detailed installation drawings. Process and track permits, resolve AHJ comments, and assist with material ordering and delivery tracking. Conduct quality control reviews on shop drawings, calculations, and submittals. Lead hand-off meetings to field technicians, clearly communicating installation details and system layouts. Support integrated designs including fire alarm, access control, surveillance, and structured cabling systems.
Must-Have Skills:
Minimum three years of related experience with fire alarm and/or low voltage design. Three years experience in AutoCAD and fire alarm design tools. Proficiency designing systems from manufacturers such as Potter, Silent Knight, or equivalent networked platforms. Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail. Strong computer skills and working knowledge of project engineering support functions. High School Diploma and valid driver's license.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Five years related experience in fire alarm/low voltage design and advanced proficiency in AutoCAD or Fire
CAD. NICET
II or higher certification (with support for continued certification and development). Comprehensive knowledge of the low voltage or electrical industry standards and practices. Experience with integrated system projects combining fire alarm, access control, surveillance, and structured cabling.
