Job Title:
Drafter Job Description This Drafter role supports the Design Engineer by developing, improving, and implementing design and documentation standards for systems products. You will design systems, manage assigned projects from concept through completion, and ensure that drawings, submittals, and documentation accurately reflect the original project scope. This position offers significant growth potential within a fast-paced environment that values internal promotion and innovation. Responsibilities Design systems and manage assigned projects from conception to completion under the guidance of the Project Engineering Manager. Create detailed drawings and design documentation using 3D solid modeling and CAD tools to support systems products. Provide clear, accurate, and timely design information to all relevant departments to ensure projects are completed as originally proposed while minimizing rework. Review project scope with the Project Engineering Manager, Design Engineer, and Project Managers to align expectations and maintain project deadlines. Prepare complete and accurate "as-built" documentation and drawing files required for final project completion. Review, create, and finalize submittals and operating manuals for various projects in accordance with project requirements. Adhere to company policies and procedures in all aspects of daily work. Demonstrate punctual attendance and maintain a neat, organized work area. Accomplish assigned goals, meet deadlines, and achieve project objectives. Support clients, colleagues, and the broader team by collaborating effectively and sharing information. Maintain company confidentiality when handling sensitive information and documentation. Work independently to identify issues, think through problems, and propose proactive design and process solutions. Perform other related duties as required to help the organization meet its goals. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of related work experience, or an Engineering or Technical degree combined with a minimum of 1 year of related work experience. High level of drafting literacy with strong experience in 3D solid modeling and CAD software. Proficiency with any modern 3D CAD platform such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or Inventor. Ability to read and comprehend piping schematics and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for chemical piping systems. Experience with piping design and piping-related projects. Experience working with P&IDs in a professional environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in drawings and documentation. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to work independently, bring forward new ideas, and think critically through design and project challenges. Good problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Siemens Solid Edge is preferred. Experience with SolidWorks or Inventor is strongly considered and accepted in place of Solid Edge. Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems. Electrical experience is considered a plus. Familiarity with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or other 3D design software. Background in mechanical drafting or mechanical design. Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement in design standards and documentation practices. Interest in long-term career growth within an organization that promotes from within. Work Environment This role is fully on-site, working five days per week in an office environment located in a remodeled building. The setting is business casual, with attire aligned to a professional yet comfortable office dress code. You will work in a fast-paced environment that manages multiple projects simultaneously, using 3D CAD software such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or Inventor, along with tools like SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
