Full Job Description Job Overview:
T Palmer Agency is expanding our Experiential and Trade Show Design capabilities, and we're looking for a CAD Designer/Detailer who c bridges creative design with fabrication, translating 3D renderings into production-ready technical drawings for custom exhibit booths and branded environments. This role demands high proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360) and a deep understanding of structural materials, woodworking, and electrical components. As a key member of our Creative & Experiential team, you'll help shape the physical environments that power our clients' conference activations, product launches, and brand experiences across fintech, Insurtech, AI, consumer tech, and beyond. You will design from the ground up and/or translate 3D conceptual renderings into exact, production-ready construction drawings, detailed shop drawings, CNC cut files, elevations, and floor plans that ensure flawless execution on the show floor. Your primary focus is ensuring booth designs are structurally sound, practical to fabricate, and compliant with venue regulation You'll collaborate closely with TPA's team members to build standout booths and experiential activations for fast-growing startups and enterprise brands. Every member of our creative team contributes to the final product, and your work will be central to delivering the elevated, story-driven experiences TPA is known for.
What You'll Do:
Design:
Produce 2D & 3D trade show booth and event activation designs. Your creativity and experience are crucial!
Detail & Draft:
Produce 2D & 3D shop drawings (AutoCAD) for custom millwork, exhibits, and CNC routing.
Scope & Spec:
Specify materials, framing systems, graphics, hardware, lighting/electrical and best-practice build methods generating detailed bill of materials.
Floor, Electrical, & Rigging Plans:
Create accurate scaled layouts and show-service diagrams.
Provide workflow updates and contribute to our in-house design reviews by participating and contributing to the internal design/layout process.
What You'll Bring:
5+ years Exhibit CAD/Detailing experience (AutoCAD & recent Adobe 3D/3ds) Deep knowledge of architectural millwork, graphics, metals, woods, laminates, and best-practice fabrication methods Strong mechanical aptitude, math skills, and self-directed research ability to propose alternate methods of construction while meeting design intent and budget/time restrictions Excellent verbal & written communication; able to thrive in a fast-paced shop Portfolio of recent trade-show or millwork drawings Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) & Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar) Demonstrated knowledge of drafting, engineering, building techniques, mathematics, and mechanical aptitude Strong attention to detail and consistent accuracy Ability to work without supervision in a fast-paced environment - we're all professionals, there's no need for someone to micromanage Why Join T Palmer Agency?
