Job Title:
Distribution Designer Job Description As a Distribution Designer, you will design both overhead and underground electric distribution systems catering to new business needs, system upgrades, relocations, storm hardening, and maintenance projects. You will develop construction drawings, layouts, schematics, staking sheets, and material lists using CAD and GIS-based tools, ensuring compliance with utility standards, NESC requirements, local codes, and client specifications. Responsibilities Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems for various projects. Develop construction drawings, layouts, schematics, staking sheets, and material lists using CAD and GIS-based tools. Apply utility standards, NESC requirements, local codes, and client specifications to all design work. Perform basic to intermediate distribution calculations, including equipment sizing, electric load calculations, and pole loading and clearance analysis. Conduct or support field visits to verify site conditions, perform measurements, and coordinate constructability considerations. Coordinate with internal engineering teams, survey, permitting, right-of-way, and construction groups. Interface with customers, municipalities, and joint-use partners as required. Prepare permit drawings and documentation for local, state, and regulatory agencies. Essential Skills 2+ years of experience in Distribution Design (Electric Utility). Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other CAD Software. Experience in power distribution, electrical engineering, drafting, and utility design. Additional Skills & Qualifications CAD Certification or Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting. Experience on the consulting side is a nice-to-have. Familiarity with Pole Loading software. Work Environment This role offers the possibility of remote work for individuals with over 2 years of experience, provided they are local to Pennsylvania, West Virginia, or Ohio. The position supports a growing consulting firm with ample growth opportunities as the distribution team is set to expand over the next 4+ years. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Homestead, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $40.00/hr.
