Job Description

THE POSITION
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation is seeking a meticulous Drafter Designer in the Cambria District Office. You will have the opportunity to support important projects that protect communities and the environment. You will work with experienced staff using your technical strengths to help solve real problems caused by past mining activities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Drafter Designer, you will play an important part in creating plans and drawings used in abandoned mine reclamation and related environmental projects. The work you will do supports engineers and field staff as they design solutions for complex site conditions. In this position, you will perform the following duties:
Plan Preparation:
Prepare plans, details, and sections for civil and mining projects
Technical Support:
Assist engineers by checking and interpreting cuts, fills, and earthwork calculations
Field Assistance:
Participate in field trips to sketch and measure mine features for design needs
Data Management:
Maintain computer files and prepare or check "as-built" drawings and related notes
Drafting Coordination:
Help lower level drafters with drawing preparation and assist in revising drafting standards
Survey Review:
Plot and check surveys and review aerial photography and mapping for project use Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience as a Drafter (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience as an Environmental Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration), which includes a minimum of one year of engineering, architectural or survey drafting work, including or supplemented by six months of CADD experience or training; or Two years of experience in engineering, architectural or survey drafting work, including or supplemented by six months of CADD experience or training, and an Associate's Degree in the field of engineering technology or Computer Aided Drafting and Design; or An equivalent combination of experience and/or training, including or supplemented by six months of CADD experience or training.
