Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Drafter / Designer Job Description This role focuses on supporting the design and documentation of control systems and electrical assemblies. You will create and maintain detailed electrical schematics and drawings, manage documentation, and collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure accurate, complete, and up-to-date design information. Responsibilities Create and update detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and drawings for control systems and electrical assemblies. Redline and revise existing drawings based on engineering feedback and design changes. Develop new drawings and documentation packages for electrical systems, including control panels and system-level designs. Assist with Bills of Materials (BOMs), including part numbering, organization, and documentation control. Support system-level and control panel drawing efforts to ensure designs are accurate, consistent, and manufacturable. Collaborate with engineering teams to verify the accuracy, completeness, and clarity of all design documentation. Interpret technical drawings and specifications and update them to reflect design improvements and corrections. Maintain drafting standards, file organization, and documentation integrity across projects. Essential Skills 3+ years of electrical drafting experience (flexible for strong entry-level candidates with relevant skills). Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar electrical drafting tools. Strong understanding of electrical drafting principles, symbols, and schematics. Experience working with control systems, control panels, or similar electrical hardware. Ability to interpret, create, and update technical drawings and documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and incorporate feedback into design updates. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with SolidWorks Electrical. Exposure to P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams). Exposure to controls, motors, drives, or similar systems. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar specialized electrical CAD tools. Experience in industries such as robotics, automotive, oil and gas, or industrial equipment. Education in electrical engineering, electrical drafting, or a related technical field is beneficial. Work Environment This is an onsite role with standard hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to work overtime as needed to support project schedules. The environment reflects a fun, startup-style culture where you can contribute in the earlier phases of a growing company and work closely with a collaborative engineering team. The organization offers paid time off for a shutdown week from December 26th to 31st and provides 10 paid holidays, including New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and a winter break holiday period. The work involves regular use of electrical CAD tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks Electrical, as well as interaction with control systems, control panels, and related equipment in an office and engineering setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
