This position is ideal for someone with strong experience preparing residential and light commercial permit plans who can work independently, manage multiple projects, and help lead production efforts. We are a fast-paced permit consulting and design firm that specializes in residential remodels, additions, new construction, pools, patio covers, commercial finish-outs, and permitting services throughout Texas. Responsibilities Prepare complete residential and light commercial permit plan sets Create site plans, floor plans, elevations, roof plans, framing plans, and wall bracing plans Prepare mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and city reviewers Revise plans based on client feedback and city comments Review junior designer work for accuracy and completeness Help standardize drafting procedures and improve production workflows Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Types of Projects Residential remodels and additions New construction homes Pools and patio covers Detached garages and carports Barndominiums and metal buildings Commercial finish-outs Change of use projects Small office and retail projects Qualifications Minimum 5 years of CAD drafting/design experience Strong experience with permit and construction drawings Proficient in AutoCAD required Experience with Revit, SketchUp, Chief Architect, Bluebeam, or other architectural drafting/design software is a plus Strong understanding of residential construction methods Familiarity with IRC and IBC codes preferred Experience preparing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans preferred Ability to read structural and engineering drawings Strong attention to detail and organization Strong communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Experience Texas permitting experience Experience responding to city comments Experience with Dallas-Fort Worth area jurisdictions Spanish bilingual is a plus Experience with commercial permitting is a plus Compensation Competitive salary based on experience Paid time off Growth opportunities within the company
