The Position:
The CAD Draftsman plays a key role in supporting project execution by creating accurate, detailed technical drawings that translate design concepts into buildable plans. This position collaborates closely with engineering and project teams to ensure that drawings are precise, up-to-date, and aligned with project requirements, thereby driving efficiency and quality across all phases of work.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings. Develop layouts, schematics, and construction drawings from conceptual designs. Produce as-built drawings based on field data and project updates. Ensure all necessary information is gathered before starting a project. Apply proper layering, scaling, and annotation standards.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure accuracy and alignment.
Interpret, apply, and double-check redlines, markups, and design changes for accuracy. Review emails and project updates to prioritize tasks effectively and communicate urgent client and vendors needs to the team. (ie. 911s) Maintain consistent communication with clients, vendors and internal teams, ensuring regular updates are provided and project timelines are clearly communicated Participate in project meetings to clarify design intent and resolve drafting issues.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards.
  • Check that the bill of materials, nested parts, and shop requests on the CAD files are complete.
Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and client specifications. Perform version control and maintain drawing revision histories, as well as records of RFIs, change orders, submittals, product data, and hardware for each project. Identify and flag design inconsistencies or potential constructability issues.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of CAD drafting experience (construction, engineering, or industrial preferred)
  • Strong understanding of drafting standards, symbols, and technical terminology
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Experience in construction, civil, mechanical, or structural drafting
  • Experience with Steel Detailing a plus

$27.33 - $32.92 per hour
