Job Description

Job Title:
Mid-Level SolidWorks Drafter Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Mid-Level SolidWorks Drafter to join our design and engineering team. The successful candidate will use SolidWorks to create, modify, and maintain 3D models in SolidWorks, and provide GA layouts for various projects. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals looking to start their career in drafting and design within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Create detailed 3D models using SolidWorks based on sketches, specifications, and engineering input. These include individual drawings and General Arrangement drawings. Prepare technical drawings, assembly instructions, and detailed blueprints for manufacturing and production. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure designs meet project requirements and specifications. Revise and update drawings as needed to incorporate changes and improvements. Maintain organized records of all design files and ensure adherence to company standards. Conduct basic quality checks on designs to ensure accuracy and manufacturability. Communicate effectively with team members and partners to address design challenges and provide solutions. Work in the production facility with the team in assembly of equipment and systems.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or certification in Drafting, CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; familiarity with other CAD software is a plus. Professional experience with a 3D modeling software. Strong understanding of drafting principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and technical drawing standards. Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications. Ability to interpret detailed mechanical engineering concepts. Sheet metal experience Extremely strong mechanical aptitude required. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Strong written communication skills. Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials is preferred. Proficient in the following software programs: SolidWorks, AutoCAD 2D, Excel, Bluebeam Preferred Qualifications (Not Required): Internship or academic project experience involving SolidWorks or related CAD tools. Familiarity with industry-specific standards (e.g., ASME, ISO). Basic experience with PDM (Product Data Management) systems.
Work Environment:
Office-based with occasional visits to manufacturing or production facilities. Collaborative team setting with opportunities for learning and professional growth.

Note:
Candidates will be tested on their SolidWorks abilities during the first in-person interview. The skills being tested will be given out ahead of time. The test will be an open-book format (including YouTube and other online sources). The purpose will be for the candidate to demonstrate their ability to model some of the custom parts made by CMT Process Solutions.
