Job Description

The Process Chemical Engineer is responsible for developing new industrial processes and designing new process plants and equipment or modifying existing ones. Work also involves occasional instruction and training of a small group of employees. This individual will provide chemical process support to all areas of the company by initiating, coordinating, and implementing all manufacturing process improvement initiatives for the company.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the initiation, coordination, and implementation of all manufacturing process improvement initiatives for the facility. Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving quality and process issues; Identify opportunities to improve the current chemical process for producing vanadium oxides and chemicals; Provide technical support to production and lab management. Methods for ICP, month-end closing, etc. Justify, develop and oversee process improvement projects to reduce costs and improve efficiencies. Provide In-plant support of operations. Upgrade and improve processes to increase productivity, efficiency, and product recovery. Identify opportunities to improve the current chemical process for producing vanadium oxides and chemicals. Act as a temporary supervisor on an as-needed basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (or related discipline). At least one year of experience in process, equipment, design, or construction engineering. Ability to critically evaluate problems and design solutions. Ability to communicate, influence, and lead plant personnel through process changes at the ground level. Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement. Team player with strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and troubleshooting skills are required. Some travel can be expected. While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on concrete for an extended period, bend, use hands and arms. The employee also occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and hazardous materials and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 products. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Schedule flexibility is required.
