Job Title:
Process Engineer (Metal Finishing) Position Summary The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes within a metal finishing job shop environment. This role focuses on improving efficiency, designing and implementing tooling and fixtures, troubleshooting process issues, and supporting production and quality teams to ensure consistent, high-quality output. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes for anodizing, passivation, and related surface treatments Create and maintain custom fixtures and tooling , including CAD design and integration of 3D-printed solutions Identify and implement process efficiency improvements to reduce cycle time, labor, and rework Troubleshoot process-related defects , including surface damage, inconsistent coatings, and handling issues Collaborate with Quality Control to investigate nonconformances and implement corrective actions Serve as a technical resource to production staff for process questions and problem resolution Work with vendors and external partners to source tooling, materials, and technical solutions Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost-reduction efforts
Qualifications Required:
Experience in manufacturing, metal finishing, anodizing, or similar industrial environment Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability Ability to troubleshoot production issues in a fast-paced shop environment
Preferred:
Experience with anodizing, passivation, or chemical surface treatments and masking for these processes Familiarity with fixture design and work holding for production environments Experience with 3D printing or rapid prototyping Understanding of quality systems and root cause analysis Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on experience Work Environment Combination of office (design/CAD work) and shop floor (process support and troubleshooting) Exposure to industrial equipment, chemicals, and production conditions typical of a metal finishing facility Key Traits for Success Practical, hands-on mindset (not just theoretical) Strong attention to detail and process consistency Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities Effective communication with production, QC, and management

From $33.80 per hour
