Days Position Summary/Details:
The TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. Work assignments are consistent with the work needs of the department and the company and provide meaningful and challenging work to the student. These engineering co-op positions will report to Energy Supply engineers and support a variety of technical projects ranging in complexity, scope and time spans. Key Responsibilities and/or Learning Objectives Review and analyze required codes, standards, and regulations to support design efforts
Review engineering documents, including, but not limited to design drawings, reports, and specifications.
Perform walkdowns and field engineering activities to support design and construction efforts
Monitor on-going construction activities to verify conformance with design drawings
Physical Location of Co-op:
Big Bend Power Station in Apollo Beach, FL (main location)
Bayside Power Station in Tampa, FL
Polk Power Station in Mulberry, FL Working Conditions Typically, in addition to office work, students will work 50% of the time in the power stations and service areas, and will need to be hands on and be willing and able to work at heights on raised walkways, etc., and to work in industrial environments which can be dirty
Preferred Availability:

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related disciplinefor the first semester the student joins the program.
Co-Op Requirements:
To qualifyas a co-op student, enrollment in the university's co-op program (proof ofenrollmentrequired); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
