Injection Mold Technician 2nd Shift Purpose of the
Position:
Injection Technician are responsible for operating and maintaining injection molding machines and systems that are used in the production of automotive parts and components. This role involves ensuring the efficient and accurate molding of plastic parts and components used in various automotive systems. Below is a detailed description of the job duties, required skills, and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
Injection Molding Operations:
Install injection molds and required equipment onto molding machines to prepare production Operate and monitor injection molding machines to produce automotive parts and components Set up, troubleshoot, and adjust machines to ensure proper operation and product quality Load materials such as plastic resins or other compounds into the injection molding machines Ensure that the injection molds are correctly aligned, loaded, and functioning Adjust machine settings for different part specifications, including temperature, pressure, and timing Complete any other tasks as directed by supervisor
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Maintain injection process compared to program sheet Troubleshoot molding issues to produce good quality product
Quality Control and Inspections:
Perform quality checks on molded parts, ensuring they meet specified standards and tolerances Document and report defects or issues to management and adjust processes accordingly Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance, maintenance repairs, and other maintenance activities, in accordance with ISO and IATF standards
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Comply with environmental regulations, including proper disposal of injection materials, solvents, and other hazardous substances Maintain a clean and organized work environment to meet 5S ideologies
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other production staff to meet production targets Report any production delays, maintenance issues, or safety hazards promptly. Communicate effectively to ensure that production timelines and quality standards are met
Skills/Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is preferred
Experience:
Prior experience in injection molding or manufacturing is highly preferred Knowledge of injection molding processes, machinery, and tooling is preferred
Technical Skills:
Mechanically inclined Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to injection molding is preferred Understanding of molding materials, including plastics and resins used in automotive manufacturing is preferred Operation of overhead cranes for movement of injection molds
