In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional leadership across R D, operations, and synthesis to bring scientific and engineering fundamentals, practical processing expertise, and printed electronics knowledge to the development of new OPV products and applications. Device Engineer Qualifications Bachelor or Master's Degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, Chemical or Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant academic and industrial experience In-depth knowledge of printed electronics devices, including experience with the characterization of solar devices and an understanding of scale-up of printed solar devices Understanding of correlations between chemical structures and properties of electronic materials Experience with formulating inks and the use of coating and printing equipment Hands-on attitude with a desire to work in a lab and/or pilot plant environment Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas in a clear and compelling manner Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision Knowledge and understanding of ISO and other relevant regulatory and quality requirements, specifically as related to the use of specialty and fine chemicals Knowledge of Design of Experiments, and statistical methods Why You Should Apply Competitive compensation package and great benefits! Fun, challenging, equitable, flexible, and safe work environment Device Engineer Job Responsibilities Identification of potentially promising materials combinations driven by a good understanding of structure-property correlations Develop stable ink formulations for numerous deposition and coating techniques Preparation of inks of the materials used in the different layers after identifications of suitable solvent systems Deposition of inks using a range of coating techniques such as spin, slot-die, doctor blade and/or rod coating Supervise specified equipment, develop and implement procedures needed for the fabrication of OPV devices Electric testing of devices, measurement of I-V curves and extraction of performance characteristics Stability testing under thermal stress as well as irradiation for longer periods Development of semi-transparent OPV devices driven using new electrode materials Apply statistical analysis to make sound decisions Write or support process protocols and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to implement new products and manufacturing processes Develop device testing protocols focused on organic photovoltaics regarding performance and stability Support the integrity and improvement of processes at both laboratory and pilot-scale based on statistical and process control techniques to assess and reduce process variance Plan and set up Design-of-Experiments to optimize processes, take measurements and interpret data for finalized process specifications Perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) techniques to identify the cause-and-effect relationship which are causing any process issues Lead efforts to reduce cycle times, improve quality, improve yields, and reduce manufacturing costs Initiate and maintain contacts with key technical resources, including 3rd party manufacturers Facilitate and support improvement projects, maintenance projects and aids in process troubleshooting, including Process Control Systems, instrumentation and equipment Educate and advise operators, staff and interns when applicable Ensure that the full range of SHE & Quality aspects of capital projects are considered/assessed and integrated into the design, construction and commissioning Follow existing safety regulations, leads and participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), safety reviews and HAZOP meetings Adhere to and support implementing and improving all safety, health and environmental guidelines and programs About Nano-C ( www.nano-c.com ) Materials That Power Our World™ Nano-C Inc is a global leader in development and industrial scale manufacture of advanced materials and specialty chemicals.
