Job Title:
Lead Process Engineer Job Description As a Lead Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing and optimizing manufacturing and industrial processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. This involves process design, troubleshooting, optimization, and documentation, as well as ensuring quality control and assurance. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will implement process improvement initiatives to contribute to the overall success of the organization. Responsibilities Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of existing manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate solutions. Design and implement process optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time, and improve product quality. Act as project lead and manage processes for assigned projects related to facility infrastructure, new equipment additions, online process measuring devices, installations, and commissioning. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions. Oversee and manage specialty tooling according to use applications, working with third-party vendors to recondition components for optimal performance. Monitor and analyze process performance metrics, such as throughput, yield, and scrap rate, developing strategies to meet or exceed targets. Identify and implement process control measures, including statistical process control (SPC) techniques, to ensure consistent quality and reduce process variation. Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process-related issues and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Lead process validation activities, including protocol development, execution, and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Participate in cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures. Provide training and guidance to production teams on new processes, procedures, and equipment to ensure successful implementation and operation. Conduct research on existing equipment, components, and practices while investigating advancements in process technologies, methodologies, and best practices. Essential Skills BS in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, industrial, or similar) 5+ years as a process engineer in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for food and packaging experience Knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, and six sigma methodologies Ability to conduct research on components, equipment, tools, methods, and practices relevant to the converting industry Audit and USDA experience Proficiency in ERP systems and quality management Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with process improvement tools and methods, such as Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping Experience with process automation and control systems (SCADA and PLC) CAD proficiency Knowledge of quality management systems and ISO standards Basic computer skills, including data entry and email communication Work Environment The work environment includes a routine 8-hour shift, with potential for irregular hours based on departmental needs. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and involves exposure to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing or PPE, such as hair nets, beard nets, no jewelry, no loose clothing, and gloves, are required. The environment is temperature-controlled, with 90% of time spent indoors. Time is divided between office settings and the plant floor, ensuring a diverse work experience. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Baltimore, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $150000.00- $160000.00/yr.
