Job Title:
Process Engineering Leader Job Description The Process Engineering Leader oversees daily manufacturing operations while driving process consistency, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement across composite fabrication and assembly. This position blends frontline leadership with hands-on engineering ownership to ensure that production workflows, tooling, and methods consistently support safety, quality, and delivery targets. The role partners closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to resolve process issues, implement improvements, and support new product or process introductions. The successful candidate brings a strong understanding of composite manufacturing processes and can translate engineering intent into efficient, repeatable shop-floor execution. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations within composite fabrication and assembly areas. Lead and drive process consistency across production lines to support reliable, repeatable manufacturing outcomes. Own and improve production workflows, tooling, and methods to meet safety, quality, and on-time delivery goals. Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process issues. Lead technical problem solving on the shop floor, using structured methodologies such as Six Sigma or 5S where applicable. Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve process capability. Translate engineering intent, drawings, and specifications into practical, efficient, and standardized shop-floor processes. Support new product and new process introductions, ensuring that manufacturing processes are robust, documented, and scalable. Provide frontline leadership to production personnel, setting clear expectations and reinforcing best practices in process discipline. Ensure adherence to AS9100 quality standards and related manufacturing procedures within the production environment. Monitor process performance and key metrics, and implement corrective actions when performance deviates from targets. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor. Essential Skills Proven process engineering experience supporting manufacturing operations. Previous management or leadership experience in a production or engineering environment. Experience working within AS9100 or similar quality management systems. Practical experience with Six Sigma and/or 5S methodologies for process improvement. Engineering degree or equivalent technical education. Strong understanding of composite manufacturing processes and their application in a production setting. Ability to translate engineering requirements into efficient, repeatable shop-floor processes. Demonstrated capability in technical problem solving and root cause analysis. Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering, quality, and operations teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Hands-on composites experience in a production setting. CAD experience to interpret and work with engineering models and drawings. CNC shop experience and familiarity with machining processes. Experience applying continuous improvement tools in a manufacturing environment. Interest in long-term growth within a performance-based role. Work Environment This position is primarily floor-based within a manufacturing environment, with regular time spent directly on the shop floor supporting composite fabrication and assembly processes. The role also includes office-based work for activities such as planning, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The environment emphasizes solving real manufacturing and engineering challenges on the floor, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The structure of the role supports clear expectations, performance-based growth, and ongoing career development. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holland, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $43.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
