Job Title:
Processing Supervisor Job Description The Processing Supervisor oversees a group of injection molding machines in a new manufacturing plant, managing the complete lifecycle of plastic parts from machine start-up through final inspection. This role focuses on process start-ups, troubleshooting, adjustments, and first-piece inspections, while also supporting mold changes to ensure consistent, high-quality production for automotive carpeted products. Responsibilities Oversee and manage the operation of multiple injection molding machines, ensuring consistent and efficient production. Handle the complete process of each part from initial machine start-up through to inspection and approval. Perform all machine start-ups in accordance with established process sheets and quality standards. Read, interpret, and apply process sheets to set up and run injection molding processes correctly. Conduct process troubleshooting to identify and resolve production issues, including quality and efficiency concerns. Make process adjustments as needed to maintain part quality, cycle times, and machine performance. Perform first part inspections to verify conformance to specifications before releasing the process to production. Assist with mold changes, including safely changing dies and preparing machines for new production runs. Monitor machine performance and proactively address issues to minimize downtime and scrap. Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to keep injection mold presses running reliably. Maintain accurate documentation related to process settings, adjustments, and inspections. Support coverage for other shifts when needed to ensure continuous plant operations. Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe working environment on the production floor. Essential Skills At least 3 years of hands-on injection mold processing experience. Proven ability to perform mold changes and change dies safely and efficiently. Demonstrated experience with process start-up and troubleshooting for injection molding. Ability to read, understand, and use process sheets in daily operations. Strong knowledge of plastics processing and injection molding principles. Proficiency in identifying process-related issues and implementing effective adjustments. Attention to detail in performing first part inspections and verifying product quality. Willingness and ability to work second shift hours (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm). Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed. Flexibility to help cover first shift hours (7:00 am - 3:00 pm) when required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive or similar high-volume production. Familiarity with hydraulic and mechanical equipment used in manufacturing processes. Comfort working around stamping cells, presses, and related production equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to resolving production issues. Ability to work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and supervision teams. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces carpeted products for the automotive industry, including carpets with soundproof, weather-resistant, and waterproof backing for vehicle floorboards. The plant includes multiple stamping cells with several presses in each cell, along with injection mold presses that must be kept running reliably. You will work primarily on second shift from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with the expectation of overtime and weekend work when production demands increase, as well as occasional coverage of first shift hours (7:00 am to 3:00 pm) when needed. The environment involves working around hydraulic and mechanical equipment, presses, and injection molding machines in a production-floor setting. The dress code includes jeans or work pants, a work shirt provided by the company, and required personal protective equipment such as steel-toe footwear and safety glasses. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Huron, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
