Job Description

Process Engineer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Process Engineer to join a global specialty chemical company focused on optimizing specialty coatings. The role involves collaborating with internal teams and external contractors to enhance and implement processes within a non-union facility, while also addressing the challenges presented by outdated systems and equipment. This position is pivotal in ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective production that meets customer requirements. Responsibilities Work closely with the operations team, leveraging problem-solving skills and technical expertise. Own day-to-day production troubleshooting and lead cross-functional teams to address production issues. Collect and categorize lost production data to prevent hindrances to the supply plan. Monitor and collect data on yield, energy usage, and sustainability to meet conversion cost and sustainability goals. Measure machinery performance to ensure reliable, low-cost, high-quality production. Respond urgently to plant issues and emergencies. Act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and execute corrective and preventative actions. Provide expertise in diagnosing and optimizing plant raw material and utility usage. Validate and improve the technical skills of operations team members. Support the maintenance of up-to-date and accurate standard operating procedures. Understand site integration and provide input to optimize manufacturing processes. Learn and apply continuous improvement, value creation, and financial acumen to enhance facility profitability. Drive high levels of safety, quality, responsiveness, and reliability for customers. Develop training programs for operators and supervisors. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant working with cross-functional teams. Experience leading change and teams without direct reports. Proficiency in change control and utilizing lean processes to improve KPIs and conduct root cause analysis. Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with ISO 9000 or 9001 compliance and documentation. Exposure to EPA regulations and documentation. Work Environment This position involves spending 65-75% of the time on the manufacturing floor, addressing various challenges such as waste management, utility usage, and maintaining aging equipment. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact continuous improvement projects with a potential career path to Operations Manager within five years. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
