Chemical Engineer - Southeastern Montana Competitive Salary Innovative Projects Big Sky Country Views! Join a dynamic energy and industrial operations team in Southeastern Montana as a Chemical Engineer , where you'll help drive process optimization, system reliability, and innovative solutions that power large-scale industrial and utility operations. This role offers a rare combination of technical challenge, professional growth, and the natural beauty of Montana's Big Sky Country. Position Overview The Chemical Engineer plays a key role in supporting process design, system performance evaluation, and project development for the company's industrial and power generation facilities. You'll apply principles of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat and mass transfer to improve plant efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and assist in the planning and execution of maintenance and capital projects. Key Responsibilities Support process design and optimization of power and industrial systems, including thermal cycles, fuel handling, water treatment, and chemical feed systems. Conduct engineering analyses and calculations related to fluid flow, combustion, heat exchange, emissions control, and chemical process performance. Develop technical specifications, cost estimates, and project scopes for equipment installations and system modifications. Collect and analyze process and performance data to identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements. Prepare technical reports, process flow diagrams, and heat and material balances to support engineering and operations decisions. Collaborate with maintenance, drafting, and operations teams on field investigations, troubleshooting, and system upgrades. Evaluate vendor proposals and equipment specifications , ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and environmental standards. Participate in process hazard reviews, environmental audits, and safety studies in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory guidelines. Provide project management support , including schedule coordination, cost control, and documentation.
For senior engineers:
Lead process improvement projects, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with plant leadership on reliability and sustainability initiatives. Requirements Qualifications - Senior Chemical Engineer Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (Master's preferred) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in Chemical Engineering. 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in process design, plant operations, or energy systems. Working knowledge of industry standards (ASME, API, ASTM, NFPA, EPA) and environmental permitting requirements. Demonstrated success in process optimization, performance testing, and project execution. Preferred Qualifications Experience with power generation, petrochemical, or utility-scale process systems. Proficiency in Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD, or other process simulation tools. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Montana (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
