Job Description:
Our Cary, NC Team is looking for a Process Engineer II to join our team. The Process Engineer II will provide daily support in the generation of design documents per the DPS Design Deliverables Matrix. Common work products will include Facility Throughput/Mass Balance, P&IDs, and the generation of Equipment Specifications. In this position, the Process Engineer II will work closely with less experienced Engineers and CAD Designers to ensure successful creation of design documents. Understands and able to explain the basic unit operations encountered in the field of Chemical Engineering with a special emphasis on those present in the Life Sciences field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the development of P&IDs based on experience and input from more experienced engineers, leveraging less experienced engineers on the team to the extent possible. Support the P&ID back-check process ensuring drawing accuracy versus design intent. Develop process flow diagrams and material balances based on input from the design team. Develop process equipment specifications from department standards and from scratch for new equipment as needed to support project needs. Work directly with the client and equipment vendors to identify process equipment that will meet project demands. Generate/review vendor bid tabs from equipment specifications and complete technical bid analysis based on vendor quotations, able to make recommendations on analysis. Evaluate process equipment utility requirements from vendor data and complete utility system capacity studies based on this and site data. Understand and able to develop intermediate calculation templates based on the theories of mass transport and thermodynamics. Complete field surveys and P&ID walkdowns, document findings in the form of field reports. Contribute to relevant design and client meetings exhibiting understanding of the project and design, consulting the Process Lead for insight to knowledge gaps as appropriate. Develop and present content to small groups in support of department goals and development activities. Deliver complete and accurate design documents that have been thoroughly backchecked for review and approval by a Senior Engineer.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, Chemical Engineering preferred. Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering degrees may also be suitable. 3+ years of experience as a Process Engineer. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team, at times with remote locations, possible. Maintain excellent attention to detail, possess organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills Ability to multitask, establish priorities, and meet deadlines. Proficient in MS Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks and other Process Modeling Software.
