Job Title:
Junior Process Engineer Job Summary The Jr Process Engineer will ensure that production casting processes are being performed as designed and quoted as well as offer assistance to the Engineering and Production team when needed for process verification, continuous improvement activities or optimization of the process. Responsibility Jr Process Engineer will document process issues and root cause analysis. Proper documentation of trials/DOE's. Jr Process engineer is required to work with Tooling and Manufacturing engineers to ensure that parts are produced in compliance with specifications throughout the cell. Participate in PFMEA creation and control plans. Participate in continuous improvement. Work together with other areas (tooling, manufacturing, tool shop, etc.) in continuous improvements to improve OEE, as assigned. Participate in product development process to ensure flowless launches and exceed expectations. Document and track engineering changes from the process perspective using the correct procedures to ensure traceability and compliance with Linamar and automotive industry standards and procedures. Participate with casting team to document lessons learned that can be used for suture projects and or new dies. Ensure that the process parameters are optimal to maximize die life (mitigate die solder and heat checks, optimize thermal balance and reduce thermal stress). Work together with tooling engineers to improve die casting and trim die designs. Identify and implement Kaizen safety initiative. Support departmental LPA and safety Audits. During die changes the Jr Process Engineers need to ensure that all procedures were followed in order to have a successful startup. Work together with suppliers to design dedicated spray manifolds for new projects. Monitor die cast performance in a daily basis. Support emergency breakdowns (calls after hours/weekends sometimes are expected). Train and develop process Setters and Optimizers as needed. Support during startup and set up Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Adhere to IATF/TS16949 and applicable customer standards. Other duties as assigned. Academic/Educational Requirements High School Diploma Required Skills/Experience Availability to troubleshoot quality issues in die cast machines working together with Setters and Optimizer. Good comprehension of die casting standards. Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. 1+ years of experience with Aluminum and/or Magnesium High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) preferably within the automotive field. Understanding of the interactions between the high-pressure die casting process conditions (e.g. die temperature, die & tip lube application, shot profile, etc.) and the properties of parts. Understanding of statistical process control and root cause analysis in a high pressure die casting manufacturing plant. Communication - Ability to read, analyze and comprehend detailed technical drawings and specifications. Ability to create supporting reports through PowerPoint. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers and customers. Provide daily product design task leadership and distribute work according to project requirements and resources.
