Gastonia, NC Direct-hire opportunity with career growth and stability Hands-on engineering role with time spent on the production floor Job Description As a Process Engineer, you will support process development, optimization, scale-up, and continuous improvement within a growing manufacturing operation. This role partners with engineering and production teams to improve process performance, troubleshoot technical issues, support new product development, and build scalable systems. This is not a desk-only engineering position; you will spend meaningful time on the production floor gathering data, solving problems, and collaborating with operations teams.
Responsibilities:
Analyze process performance, identify improvement opportunities, and support yield, recovery, reliability, and efficiency projects Conduct root cause analysis, troubleshoot process deviations, and recommend practical improvements Support process development, pilot trials, process validation, commercialization, and scale-up activities Maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, technical records, process standards, and best practices Collect and analyze process data, develop reports and metrics, and support equipment, commissioning, and facility improvement projects
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline 3+ years of experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, or process manufacturing Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical writing, documentation, and communication skills Experience working in manufacturing environments and collaborating with operators, supervisors, maintenance, and management Proficiency with Excel, engineering calculations, process data analysis, and data-driven decision making
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of process engineering experience Experience with extraction, purification, distillation, solvent recovery, or related unit operations Experience supporting scale-up, commercialization, Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, process safety, or statistical analysis
