Teaching Full Job Description Overview:
THE ROLE
We are looking for a collaborative and curious team member who works well both independently and as part of a multi-functional team. You bring a passion for solving complex problems, implementing technical solutions, and continuously improving how we work. You are an effective communicator who can adapt your style to different audiences and build positive relationships across the company. This role is ideal for an individual who is both coachable and committed to helping others grow. They are eager to learn and share knowledge. They also contribute to a positive, human-centered work environment that helps us hire and retain the right people.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Develop a deep understanding of the current-state Principles of Operation for our packaging lines, including the impacts on upstream and downstream processes. Independently operate key packaging equipment (filler, checkweigher, sealer, metal detector, capper) and support the design of experiments (DOEs), trials, and troubleshooting activities. Build expertise in future-state packaging capabilities to optimize process parameters and tooling for safety, quality, and efficiency. Analyze how raw materials and formulations influence process parameters, tooling requirements, and line performance. Create and maintain user-friendly quick-reference guides for process parameters and tooling to support consistent performance across shifts and team members. Partner closely with R D to support new formula introductions, reformulations, and new SKU launches, ensuring a smooth transition from lab to production. Plan and implement DOEs in the Pilot Lab, interpret results, and communicate data-driven recommendations to technical and non-technical collaborators. Support feasibility studies, including powder flow testing, particle size distribution analysis, and loose/tap density evaluations. Contribute to cost-savings and yield optimization projects focused on reducing packaging line losses and improving overall equipment effectiveness. Flex to support other areas of Manufacturing when needed, demonstrating a team-first perspective and commitment to shared goals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role may provide informal leadership through mentoring, coaching, and guiding work for peers or technicians. #LI-TK1!
Job Qualifications:
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
Typically 6 years of proven ability providing and/or leading process engineering technical support in food, pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, or skincare manufacturing (or a combination of equivalent experience). Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field; equivalent practical experience in a highly regulated process environment will also be considered. Proven ability to apply continuous improvement tools (for example, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 5 Why, DMAIC) to real production issues. Hands-on experience designing, executing, and analyzing data for DOEs (Design of Experiments), with the ability to translate findings into clear recommendations. Shown ability to teach, coach, and mentor others on continuous improvement tools, DOE methodology, and project execution in a way that is accessible to different learning styles. Strong facilitation skills, with experience leading discussions and decision-making sessions with diverse stakeholders and levels across the organization. Broad exposure to functions that interact with R D (such as QA, QC, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain), and the ability to collaborate optimally across these groups. Experience working in a GMP or similarly regulated manufacturing environment, with a strong commitment to product quality, safety, and compliance. Comfort using data and digital tools to advise decisions, while maintaining a human-centered, relationship-focused approach to working with colleagues.
WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT THIS TEAM
We partner closely with Operations and multiple cross-functional teams, giving you awareness of both day-to-day manufacturing and broader business priorities. We support a multi-shift environment, which may include occasional after-hours support — and we plan work to balance business needs with people's well-being.
Your day-to-day will be varied:
you may lead your own projects, contribute as a project team member, or work autonomously on targeted improvement initiatives. Our team reports into the Quality function, providing exposure to the front end of the business and opportunities to cross-train within Quality (e.g., systems, compliance, continuous improvement). We value a human-centered approach — ensuring people have the information, tools, and support they need to do their best work and grow their careers.
