Position Overview The Loose Tube and Armoring department is seeking a highly motivated intern within the engineering disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, etc.) for support. Responsibilities Work with Operations and Process Engineering to assist with line trials, prove-ins, materials evaluations in support of the Loose Tube line 2-24 commissioning, recipe development and qualification in FY 2026. Work with Operations and Process Engineering to assist with the relocation of the remaining components of Loose Tube to the new room. Work with Operations, Process Engineering and Process Engineering Technicians to support ongoing CI projects throughout Loose Tube and Armoring. Execution of CI and Optimization activities in a timely manner supporting Productivity Improvement actions.
Reports to:
Joe Schultz Qqualifications Qualifications Assist the Process Engineers and Technicians in Loose Tube and Armoring with line trials, materials evaluations, equipment evaluations and qualification work. Competency in MS Office Suite, in particular MS Excel Ability to analyze data and draw reasonable conclusions to enable recommendations, some CAD could be beneficial, ability to perform all physical requirements of SubCom employees Should be going into (min) Junior Year of BS program in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering at an ABET Accredited Institution for their chosen Major.

Job Impact of Engineering Intern, Loose Tube and Armoring:
With the Loose Tube department commissioning and working through a large quantity of recipe development and qualifications for new line 2-24 and continuing the process of relocating the remainder of Loose Tube to the new room, there will be a great deal of line trial work, qualification work and troubleshooting required to ensure timely transition to production. (work remaining on recipe development for 2-23, Poly Products to finish its relocation and requalification exercises later in 2026, process optimization and CI activities throughout Loose Tube) Provide assistance to the FFOM Armoring for multiple ongoing CI activities throughout Armoring.
