Thomas Electronics, located in Clyde, NY, with additional facilities in Addison, Illinois and Genlis, France, is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our growing team. This is an exciting, hands-on role involving significant responsibility and exposure to all facets of manufacturing. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic setting, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, process reliability, and operational efficiency.
Identify, evaluate, and implement upgraded metrology tools and production equipment to enhance accuracy, consistency, and throughput.
Develop detailed process and equipment specifications, ensuring clarity for internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers.
Support suppliers in the delivery of materials, components, and equipment by providing technical guidance and requirements.
Communicate and collaborate with customers to obtain necessary approvals for process modifications and ensure changes meet all requirements.
Management/reduction of chemical/hazardous waste.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Three years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Experience with particle sizing techniques is preferred.
Knowledge of chemical process development.
Strong communication skills/ability to create detailed reports.
Occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe position will work primarily in both an office and manufacturing environment. Regularly exposed to toxins, fumes, chemicals.
Occasionally exposed to moderate noise.
Rarely exposed to extremely loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to airborne pathogens, dim lighting, bright lighting, risk of electrical shock.

JOB SUMMARYA
Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and continuously improving manufacturing processes involving sol-gel reactions, thin film physical vapor deposition, slurry coatings, and acid/chemical etchings.ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONSAnalyze existing chemical processes to identify opportunities for improved yield, product quality, and overall process efficiencyImplement process improvements by developing, testing, and validating changes using sound engineering practices.Identify, evaluate, and implement upgraded metrology tools and production equipment to enhance accuracy, consistency, and throughput.
Develop detailed process and equipment specifications, ensuring clarity for internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers.
Support suppliers in the delivery of materials, components, and equipment by providing technical guidance and requirements.

OTHER DUTIES
Provide support to operators/technicians in the day-to-day production involving various chemical/manufacturing processes.Management/reduction of chemical/hazardous waste.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
& EXPERIENCEBachelors degree in Chemical, Biomedical/Biomolecular, Materials Science/Engineering, or equivalent experience from an accredited university.Three years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
& ABILITIESKnowledge of sol-gel reactions and phosphor chemistry preferred.Experience with particle sizing techniques is preferred.
Knowledge of chemical process development.
Strong communication skills/ability to create detailed reports.
