Job Description

Position Purpose:
The Process Engineer performs a broad range of cross-functional professional duties across the organization serving Ferriot core business and AOBP. The primary focus of this role includes, but is not limited to, (1) Process refinement, development and documentation; (2) Training and mentoring technical staff including Process Technicians, Mold Setters, Material Handlers, etc.; (3) Acquiring and analyzing data concerning operations and the technical staff, with focus on removing costs from manufacturing molding operations and streamlining processes to optimize production; (4) Utilizing data-driven methodologies to assist in troubleshooting and resolving business and technical process issues; (5) Functioning as the point person for leading the department into lean manufacturing and implementation; improving profitability.
Key competencies include:
Ensure the safety of self and others, follow all company safety policies and procedures, properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), maintain a clean and organized work area, and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses to supervision. Develop, optimize and troubleshoot injection molding processes using a wide variety of engineered and commodity type resins. Identify and develop procedural changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness throughout the organization. Define, monitor, analyze and report on KPIs of assigned continuous improvement activities. Develop post-project controls for handing off to Manufacturing in collaboration with the Manager, Molding Operations. Actively participate in the DFM process acting as the primary technical resource for Manufacturing. Identify the need for and develop training plans for Manufacturing personnel (Material Handlers, Mold Setters and Process Technicians) Manage process documentation including but not limited to process sheets, work instructions, ISO controlled forms, SOPs, etc. Assist with maintaining and updating all required departmental records per SOP and defined ISO requirements. Train department personnel on the latest problem solving, set-up and processing techniques. Develop and implement continuous improvement projects geared toward reducing internal scrap and process costs and increasing production levels within the department. Work closely with all departments and personnel to achieve departmental and company goals. Interface with the Manager, Molding Operations to achieve daily and weekly production requirements. Coordinate with the Sales, Project Engineering, Quality and Finishing Departments to assist with engineering changes connected with existing programs and new project start-ups as they transition into production. Identify and implement new equipment and automation technologies to improve profitability. Continue to implement, develop and champion a lean manufacturing environment. Review and assess department activities related to safety and methods/procedures to improve safety, especially accident prevention. Take responsibility for and perform other duties and functions as assigned.
