Control Engineer Posted On Apr 09, 2026 Location Columbus,Ohio Salary 80000-100000 Category Manufacturing Status Full Time Controls & Automation Engineer GEE Group is seeking a hands-on engineer to design, program, and commission custom automated machinery. Requires 2+ years of experience with PLC/HMI programming, motion control, and electrical troubleshooting to deliver robust production-ready systems.
Responsibilities:
Advanced Control Programming:
Program and refine complex PLC routines in Studio 5000 using standard Ladder Logic and Function Block Diagrams.
HMI/SCADA
Development:
Architect and implement intuitive operator interfaces and monitoring systems via FactoryTalk View
SE/ME. ISA-88
Batch Management:
Build FactoryTalk Batch systems following ISA-88 standards, including the creation of area models, phases, and recipes.
DCS Diagnostics & Resolution:
Analyze and troubleshoot Distributed Control System (DCS) malfunctions to identify core issues and apply permanent fixes.
Project Commissioning:
Direct or assist in the technical startup and commissioning of upgraded or brand-new automation systems.
Multi-Disciplinary Support:
Provide technical assistance for electrical layouts, industrial networking, and field instrumentation as needed.
Process Improvement Collaboration:
Work with diverse engineering teams to integrate DCS enhancements and optimize process control strategies.
User Training & Education:
Deliver instructional support to DCS operators and technical staff to ensure efficient system use.
Governance & Standardization:
Define and maintain software coding standards and operational best practices across all control platforms.
Strategic Automation Planning:
Guide the development of long-term automation roadmaps and technology initiatives for the facility.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering 2+ years of experience in industrial automation and controls required Rockwell Platform knowledge: Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View SE/ME, FactoryTalk Batch Name
