Aerospace Position Overview We are seeking an Environmental Control System (ECS) Trade Study & Certification Support Engineer to support advanced aerospace platform development activities. This role will focus on evaluating ECS architectures, performing technical trade studies, supporting certification planning, and developing system-level requirements and documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience with aircraft environmental control systems, thermofluid systems, system architecture development, and aerospace certification activities. This individual will work cross-functionally with propulsion, avionics, structures, safety, and operations teams to develop data-driven recommendations supporting aircraft design and certification efforts. Key ResponsibilitiesECS Architecture & Trade Studies Lead and execute Environmental Control System (ECS) trade studies and architecture evaluations. Perform bleed-air versus bleedless architecture analyses and provide recommendation packages. Evaluate electrical architecture alternatives and system integration impacts. Assess anti-ice system architecture concepts and performance tradeoffs. Develop controls architecture concepts, functional requirements, and interface definitions. Conduct pack sizing, heat exchanger, cooling, and airflow optimization studies. Define and evaluate figures of merit including performance, weight, cost, reliability, maintainability, safety, and certification impacts. Perform sensitivity analyses and document assumptions, methodologies, and results. Systems Engineering & Requirements Support ECS requirements development, decomposition, allocation, and traceability. Create system architecture descriptions, functional block diagrams, and interface definitions. Maintain requirements and verification artifacts using requirements management tools. Support configuration management and document control processes. Certification & Compliance Support Support certification planning activities for ECS-related systems and functions. Contribute to certification plans, means of compliance, compliance matrices, and verification documentation. Support compliance activities related to

regulations including: 14 CFR / CS 25.831
  • Ventilation 14 CFR / CS 25.841
  • Pressurization 14 CFR / CS 25.1309
  • System Safety 14 CFR / CS 25.
1438 and related environmental system requirements Prepare analysis reports, compliance summaries, and authority submittal documentation. Support technical reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and certification reviews. Cross-Functional Collaboration Coordinate with propulsion, loads, avionics, structures, safety, flight operations, and certification teams. Present technical recommendations and decision-ready materials to program stakeholders. Ensure consistency between trade study outcomes, system requirements, and certification objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline. 5+ years of aerospace engineering experience. Experience supporting aircraft Environmental Control Systems (ECS), air management systems, thermal management systems, or related aircraft subsystems. Understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and aircraft environmental systems. Experience performing engineering trade studies and architecture evaluations. Ability to generate clear technical reports, recommendations, and engineering documentation. Experience working with requirements management tools such as DOORS. Familiarity with configuration management and document control processes. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting commercial aircraft certification programs. Familiarity with FAA Part 25 and
EASA CS-25
certification requirements. Knowledge of bleed-air, bleedless, thermal management, anti-ice, and aircraft pressurization systems. Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, Cameo, or similar tools. Experience supporting Boeing, Airbus, military aircraft, or advanced air mobility programs. Experience participating in SRR, PDR, CDR, and certification reviews.
