Strategic Leadership:
Manage a specialized team including Metallurgical and Process Engineers, along with the Metal Lab and Metals Store
Schedule:
Standard First Shift (6:00 AM•3:00 PM) with flexibility based on production/pours Full-time, permanent W-2 employee Full benefits package Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder 100% onsite role (no remote/hybrid) Located in the Milwaukee, WI area This full-time Head of Metallurgy & Process Engineering career opportunity is a pivotal technical leadership role at an established, dual-process foundry leader specializing in both sand and investment casting. The company is currently in an aggressive "rebuilding and rebranding" phase, backed by an investment group that is funneling capital into technology and employee development to dominate high-growth sectors like Nuclear, Aerospace, and Defense. This is a "low-red-tape," high-impact environment where you'll lead a specialized team in a facility known for its 10-year average employee tenure and technical excellence. If you are an eager, hands-on leader who thrives on the complexity of diverse alloys and high-compliance standards, this is your chance to truly own the metallurgical roadmap of a growing organization. The successful candidate's duties and responsibilities will encompass the following: Lead the Metallurgical & Process Engineering teams, providing high-level mentorship to engineers and technicians while overseeing the chemical and mechanical laboratories Master the "Metals Store" and melt operations, establishing precise melting and heat-treating practices for over 250 unique alloys to ensure 100% specification compliance Drive technical excellence in "Metals Meetings," facilitating plant-wide efficiencies and acting as the final authority on out-of-spec dispositions and quality-related metallurgical issues Oversee rigorous process control testing for both sand and investment casting, utilizing SPC charting and D.O.E. (Design of Experiments) to optimize sands, slurries, and coatings Interface as the Technical Subject Matter Expert for global customers and sales teams, translating complex metallurgical data into actionable manufacturing solutions The background of the successful candidate must include the following: A Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related Engineering/Industrial field 5+ years of progressive experience in steel or specialized metal manufacturing (Foundry or Casting environments are highly preferred) Proven management experience with the "eager, dive-in" personality required to lead a fast-paced, 148-person operation Solid understanding of high-compliance quality systems, including requirements for Nuclear, Military, and Aerospace (ASME, ASTM, API) Mastery of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to drive cost reduction and quality improvement Residency within 45-60 minutes of the Milwaukee area
