Job Description

Job Title:
Human Factors Engineer II Job Description As a Human Factors Engineer II, you will provide essential human factors support throughout all phases of product development. This includes translating user requirements into actionable design recommendations and reviewing both hardware and software design concepts. You will lead usability testing and human factors evaluations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards. Responsibilities Provide human factors support across all product development phases. Translate user requirements into design recommendations. Review hardware and software design concepts. Conduct user interface design assessments. Perform human factors testing and complete related reporting and analysis. Lead usability testing and human factors evaluations, including formative and summative studies. Develop customer-facing reports, including human interface analyses, cognitive walkthroughs, and heuristic evaluations. Apply human factors engineering expertise within cross-functional teams to evaluate consumer healthcare products and medical devices. Ensure compliance with FDA Human Factors Guidance and
ISO 9241.
Develop and conduct human factors research studies. Plan and conduct user evaluations of product concepts and analyze data. Document evaluation methods and results in detailed reports. Present design recommendations to the project team. Manage and plan human factors activities to support product development programs. Assist with analytical use risk analysis to assess use error risk potential. Identify design mitigations and create deliverables to meet deadlines. Train and mentor new and less experienced human factors engineers. Guide clients through the human factors process. Essential Skills Strong understanding of human factors, user experience, and usability. Proficiency in human factors engineering, risk analysis, ergonomics, and kinesiology. Experience with validation protocols and writing protocols. Moderating and note-taking for studies. Proficiency in data and root cause analysis. Strong understanding of medical device and healthcare regulations. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate visually via sketches, charts, and digital presentations. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. Problem-solving skills for moderate to complex technical problems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ideal candidates have a degree in engineering, science, kinesiology, or physical therapy. Emphasis on classical Human Factors Engineering (HFE) training, ergonomics, and early formative user needs. Experience in human interface analyses, cognitive walkthroughs, heuristic evaluations, and ergonomic kinematic assessments. Work Environment Work in a dynamic office/lab environment, located in an amazing facility in Providence. The role requires collaborating within cross-functional teams and maintaining compliance with industry standards. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Providence, RI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
