Job Title:
Process Development Engineer Job Description The Process Development Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and scaling manufacturing processes from concept through production. This role focuses on improving efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements. The engineer collaborates cross-functionally with R D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support successful product and process commercialization. Responsibilities Develop, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing processes to meet performance, quality, and cost objectives. Translate laboratory or pilot-scale processes into scalable, robust production processes. Design and execute experiments (DOE) to improve yield, throughput, and process stability. Identify and resolve process issues related to quality, efficiency, safety, or equipment performance. Develop process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and process flow diagrams. Support technology transfer from R D to manufacturing and from pilot to full-scale production. Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introduction (NPI). Analyze process data and prepare technical reports and recommendations. Ensure processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Provide technical support to manufacturing and operations teams as needed. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. 3-5 years of relevant engineering and/or process development experience, ideally within a fast-moving consumer goods environment. Strong technical foundation in process design, scale-up, commissioning, optimization principles, and risk assessment. Experience with data analysis, statistical methods, and root cause analysis. Proficiency with process modeling, data analysis tools, or manufacturing software (e.g., Excel, Minitab, JMP, Aspen, or similar). Ability to work effectively in teams and independently with appropriate guidance. Skill in prioritizing and managing activities. Ability to proactively identify problems and create and implement solutions. Applying fundamental technical understanding to interpret and analyze data and draw clear conclusions. Effective communication of technical information verbally and in writing. Technical curiosity, a commitment to continuous learning, and a drive to ensure technical rigor. Additional Skills & Qualifications Potential to coach and mentor others. Championing the consumer constantly. Work Environment The work environment includes roughly 400 employees at the East Hanover site, with most working a hybrid schedule (2-3 days per week onsite) and remote options available on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be local to East Hanover to attend onsite as needed. The company offers free lunch for all employees and consultants from Monday to Friday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of East Hanover, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
