Advanced applications demand precision. Product designs are increasing in complexity and precision while decreasing in size and acceptable tolerances. Our high reliability products enable numerous technologies with recent improvements in metallization, plating, and sealing processes. Our business is AS9100 certified and Nadcap certified for electrolytic nickel and gold plating. The qualified applicant will be a key member of our process engineering team and support our electroless and electrolytic plating. The applicant must be dependable, a team player, have good communication skills, both written and verbal, be a critical thinker, self-motivated, proficient in Microsoft Office, and able to learn new manufacturing processes and equipment.
Position Summary:
Directly supports daily production activities of the plating department including electrolytic and electroless plating, pre and post cleaning and etching and activation operations. Plans and executes engineering tasks pertaining to process control, maintaining quality requirements, and continual improvements.Essential Functions:
1. Develops, implements, and improves production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost-efficient manner; requires use of moderate decision-making skills. 2. Works with and supports chemical technicians on bath control testing, bath maintenance, chemical additions, wastewater treatment and DI water system. 3. Supports continual improvement activities including new chemistry and/or new equipment. Establishes timelines for completion of projects and can keep projects on task. 4. Develops and maintains written standards on the production processes. 5. Directs or performs the analysis of samples that require specialized training. 6. Utilizes SPC systems for production and analytical operations and implements actions based on trends in the data. 7. Responsible for internal and external root cause/corrective action procedures to ensure quality standards are maintained. 8. Understands requirements of customer and industry specifications, ensures compliance, and supports internal and external audit activities. 9. Works as a team with others to coordinate production, quality, and productivity goals between departments to meet company objectives. 10. Understands and meets or exceeds quality standards; seeks to minimize error rate. 11. Enforces company policy and practices and follows all safety requirements; strives to maintain a safe work environment.Education, Training, and Skill Recommendations/Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or appropriate science. Other technical disciplines may be considered.
- Minimum five years of experience with electroless and/or electrolytic nickel and gold plating processes in manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen is a plus.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
