Full-time, on-site Position Summary This Manufacturing Engineer with have a focus specializing in CNC machining and in-process metrology to support precision part production. This role focuses on integrating on-machine measurement systems, particularly Hexagon solutions, to improve quality, reduce scrap, and enable real-time process control. This position will work at the intersection of machining, inspection, and data analysis, ensuring parts meet tight tolerances while optimizing cycle time and throughput. This will be a continuous improvement position to enable a data loop from machine results to NC programming to improve first pass yield of all parts. Key Responsibilities CNC Machining & Process Development Develop, optimize, and validate on machine metrology process for milling operations Collaborate with programmers, machinists, and Quality Engineers to integrate probing, laser scanning, and panametrics cycles into machining workflows Improve machining processes using data-driven feedback from in-process measurements In-Process Metrology (Primary Focus) Implement and maintain on-machine probing systems using Hexagon AB technologies (e.g., probes, sensors, software) Program and troubleshoot measurement routines using tools like PC-DMIS and machine-integrated probing cycles Capture critical feature data during machining (dimensions, position, form, etc.) Establish closed-loop machining processes using real-time measurement feedback Inspection & Quality Assurance Define inspection strategies for in-process and final verification Interpret GD&T and ensure compliance with engineering drawings Support root cause analysis for nonconformances using measurement data Coordinate with quality teams to ensure alignment between CMM and on-machine inspection Data & Continuous Improvement Analyze measurement data trends to improve process capability (Cp, Cpk) Develop dashboards or reports to monitor key quality metrics Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce variation and scrap Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of CNC machining experience (milling preferred) Hands-on experience with on-machine probing and metrology systems Proficiency with PC-DMIS or similar metrology software Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading Preferred Qualifications Experience with Hexagon AB metrology solutions (e.g., probing systems, CMM integration) Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools (e.g., Catia, Siemens NX, Mastercam) Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and process capability analysis Experience with deployment of on machine metrology solutions in an aerospace environment Exposure to automation and Industry 4.0 concepts NWI Aerostructures provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
