Process Development Engineer Location Bryan, TX Department Process Development Reports To VP of Process Development Employment Full-Time FLSA Status Exempt
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Process Development Engineer will conceptualize, design, develop, commission, and implement pilot unit operations to prove and improve BioVeritas technology to make it ready for commercial implementation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all tasks with the safety of coworkers, self, and BioVeritas equipment in mind. At minimum, comply with all safety policies and practices. Identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Develop equipment or procedural changes to improve process economics, energy efficiency, and carbon intensity. Suggest improvements to the process and develop the required proposals and budgets to implement the improvements. Coordinate equipment testing with outside vendors for both on-site and off-site validation of equipment before introduction into BioVeritas normal operations. Develop and refine standard operating procedures for pilot unit operations. Provide technical support and oversight for pilot unit operations to ensure process and data integrity. Provide engineering support for operations and maintenance staff to ensure equipment reliability and maximize safety. Continually learn and develop your knowledge and wisdom to benefit yourself and BioVeritas. Maintain accurate records of pilot operation and experimental data. Provide analysis results in a timely and consistent manner. Provide well-written and well-presented process updates, data, and proposed changes to co-workers, senior management, and other stakeholders. Identify problems with results and report them to the VP of Process Development.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a similar field. At least 5 years of Process Engineering, Operations, or pilot-scale R&D experience preferred. Ability to safely and successfully perform all essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable federal, state, and local standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone. Preferred Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Experience in biofuels, SAF, fermentation, or biorefinery environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires the ability to safely and consistently perform the following physical demands. Frequent walking and standing in a laboratory and pilot plant environment. Ability to work around process equipment, chemicals, and elevated temperatures with adherence to safety protocols. Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs. Clear verbal communication in person and by phone. Regular, punctual attendance consistent with all applicable federal, state, and local standards.
