Up to 25% as needed Position Overview We are seeking a Controls MES Engineer to design, develop and maintain manufacturing execution and control systems that ensure reliable production, accurate data capture and actionable reporting across multiple sites. The role combines PLC/HMI programming, MES integration, SQL/SSRS reporting and data-driven solution delivery to support continuous production, regulatory and business objectives for liquid process operations. Key Responsibilities Design, configure and maintain MES integrations with PLCs, HMIs and enterprise systems to ensure accurate transactional and event data flow. Develop, program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI logic, including commissioning and field support for Allen Bradley/ControlLogix and other platforms. Create, optimize and support SQL Server databases, queries and stored procedures used by MES, and develop SSRS reports and dashboards for operations and business stakeholders. Implement and maintain data ETL processes (SSIS/other tools), develop data models and support Power BI/Tableau reporting including use of DAX where applicable. Collaborate with process, operations and quality teams to define control requirements, data collection points, recipes, batch sequencing and alarming strategies for liquid process lines and flow meter integrations. Lead system testing, validation and release activities including FAT/SAT, version control, documentation and change control for corporate standards. Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Develop and maintain technical documentation, wiring/configuration diagrams, code comments and HMI screens consistent with corporate standards. Coach and transfer knowledge to site engineers and technicians; support continuous improvement initiatives and standardization across sites. Support networked instrumentation and industrial Ethernet communications, cybersecurity best practices and interface requirements with enterprise systems. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical, Controls, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years hands on experience implementing and supporting MES systems in a manufacturing environment. Proven experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting; required exposure to Allen Bradley/ControlLogix and RSLogix 5000 preferred. Strong HMI development skills (Wonderware/AVEVA/Archestra or similar). Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, writing efficient queries, stored procedures and experience building SSRS reports. Hands on MES experience (configuration, integration, recipe management, event/transaction handling). Experience with ETL processes and SSIS, and familiarity with .NET development, Visual Studio and C# for custom integrations. Experience building dashboards and reports in Power BI or Tableau; familiarity with Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) is a plus. Working knowledge of SCADA systems, industrial Ethernet, flow meter integration and liquid process control/measurement. Solid analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; experience working with cross functional teams and supporting site deployments. Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites for commissioning, support and knowledge transfer as required.
