Job Description

Job Title:
Process Engineer Job Description The Process Engineer supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of pipeline, terminal, and processing facilities. This role focuses on process design, optimization, hydraulic analysis, safety compliance, and operational troubleshooting across natural gas, NGL, refined products, CO₂, and terminal assets. The Process Engineer collaborates closely with Operations, Project Engineering, Integrity, and HSE teams to ensure facilities meet technical, regulatory, and performance requirements. Responsibilities Develop project design bases and front-end engineering (FEED) studies for proposed Operations & Maintenance and capital projects. Assist in developing, monitoring, and implementing capital project estimates to support sound investment decisions. Review, maintain, and update Process Safety Information, including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Cause & Effect Matrices, Consequences of Deviation, pressure relief valve calculations, and Maximum Intended Inventory documentation. Perform detailed sizing, design, and specification of major equipment within gas processing facilities, including compression equipment, heat exchangers, pumps, towers, separators, heaters, control valves, and related systems. Perform and validate relief valve and flare system sizing and evaluations to ensure safe and compliant operation. Review and provide technical feedback on equipment drawings, vessel calculations, and construction drawings to verify conformance with design requirements and standards. Provide technical support for facility startups, troubleshooting activities, and plant turnarounds, both in the field and remotely. Prepare and coordinate engineering reports, calculations, studies, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Participate in the completion of Management of Change (MOC) requirements, ensuring process safety and documentation compliance. Develop and update process and equipment specifications and standards to drive consistency and best practices across facilities. Collaborate effectively with internal and external personnel, follow work rules, adhere to work schedules, and take direction from leadership as needed. Act as a liaison between project management, operations, and third-party engineering contractors to ensure facilities and equipment purchases meet proper design and performance requirements. Support process facility instrumentation, controls, and automation initiatives, including coordination with
PLC/SCADA
interfaces where applicable. Contribute to continuous process improvement and reliability initiatives across refinery, condensate splitter, and related operations. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; a degree in Mechanical Engineering will be considered with applicable process engineering experience. 10+ years of experience in the design, construction, or operation of refinery or condensate splitter operations. Strong process engineering background with experience in compression, flare systems, fractionation, and utility systems such as heat medium, fuel gas, and instrument air. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in the field and remotely for process facilities. Experience with process facility instrumentation, controls, and automation. Ability to develop, read, and interpret mechanical diagrams and engineering drawings. Functional knowledge and understanding of
ASME B31.3, ASME
Section VIII Division 1, API 520/521, and other relevant RAGAGEP standards and regulations related to process facility design, construction, and operation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with a diverse range of personnel, including Project Management, Business Development, Operations, Contractors, Suppliers, and other internal and external groups. Demonstrated customer focus and collaborative approach in supporting cross-functional teams. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
