The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Project Delivery Bridge Design Section, is looking for a Technical Engineer/Architect 1/2 Flex to help us Keep Alaska Moving! Depending on the selected applicant's location, this position can be filled in Juneau, Anchorage, or Fairbanks.Salary information is listed below:
Anchorage:
$3,960.75- $4,245.
Biweekly Fairbanks:
$4,079.25- $4,372.
Biweekly Juneau:
$4,158.75- $4, 457.

Who we are looking for:
To be successful in this position, the selected applicant will possess the following core competencies:Structural Engineering :
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods related to the design and analysis of complex structures using a variety of materials. Structures may include aerospace systems or structures, and other determinate or indeterminate systems.Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving :
uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.Teaching Others :
Helps others learn through formal or informal methods; identifies training needs; provides constructive feedback; coaches others on how to perform tasks; acts as a mentor.Transportation Engineering :
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods applicable to planning, designing, and constructing of transportation systems including traffic analysis, signal analysis, highway capacity, pavement design, bridge construction, planning of transportation projects, environmental analysis of transportation facilities, and transportation network analysis.Compliance :
Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.Special Note:
This position requires the following: A valid driver's license. Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer with State of Alaska Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors- 12 AAC 36.063. TECHNICAL ENGINEER 1 / ARCHITECT 1
Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or professional architect, and two years of professional engineering or architectural experience as an Engineer 1, Architectural Assistant 3 or higher with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.Special Note:
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance withAS 08.48.191
(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.TECHNICAL ENGINEER 2 / ARCHITECT 2

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Technical Engineer 1 / Architect 1 or Technical Engineer 2 / Architect 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at a lower level, promotion to the higher level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.COVER LETTER A
