Job Description:
We're looking for a field-capable Project Engineer / Operations Coordinator who wants real responsibility and long-term growth. This is not a corporate office role, you'll be in the field, in the truck, and in the office. You'll work directly with the owner and become a key part of running projects and growing the company. This position is ideal for someone who:
- Has field experience
- Understands dirt/pipe/construction operations
- Wants to grow into a superintendent/PM role
- Doesn't want to sit behind a desk all day
Role Overview:
This is roughly a 50/50 field and office role. You'll help coordinate crews, manage jobs, assist with estimating, and step into the field when needed. The goal is to build someone who can eventually run projects independently.
Responsibilities:
Field:
Visit jobsites daily Coordinate crews and schedule work Assist with layout and grades Communicate with inspectors and clients Help resolve field issues Jump in and help when needed Track production
Office:
Order materials and coordinate deliveries Schedule subs and equipment Call in locates/permits Assist with takeoffs and estimating Update job costs and budgets Maintain project documentation Coordinate inspections and testing
Growth Path:
Run small jobs within 6-12 months Manage multiple jobs within 2-3 years Potential long-term leadership role
Qualifications Preferred:
2-6 years civil construction experience Experience with excavation/utilities/site work Equipment operation experience (big plus) CM degree OR strong field background Ability to read plans and specs Basic takeoff/estimating skills
