POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Project Engineer supports the Project Management team in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects while working onsite at the job location. This role ensures compliance with project schedules, documentation standards, and client requirements while facilitating communication between field teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients. The Field Project Engineer plays a critical role in preconstruction, construction, and closeout phases, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to: Assist Project Managers with preconstruction requirements and permit processes. Prepare permit pull packages and coordinate client permit submissions. Request job numbers and set up projects in accounting and client platforms. Prequalify subcontractors for compliance with company policies. Prepare and track insurance requirements (Builders Risk, Payment & Performance bonds). Maintain project tracking logs (timeline, submittals, RFIs, observations, change orders). Set up and manage reports in AutoDesk and client portals. Input initial schedules in Wrike and update as directed by PM and Field Leadership. Track and reconcile materials, including scheduling job start-up and in-progress needs. Communicate continuously with Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Prepare meeting minutes for weekly project meetings and kick-off sessions. Maintain electronic and physical project files throughout the project lifecycle. Load and maintain all project drawings and specifications in AutoDesk and client portals. Submit RFIs and ensure proper documentation of all related materials. Process submittals to meet schedule deadlines. Manage change order documentation, including compiling workbooks and tracking subcontractor logs. Reconcile accounting software with client cost tracking for change orders and reimbursements. Support billing reminders and follow up with subcontractors. Assist PM and accounting teams with releases and financial documentation. Collect and archive all closeout documents, ensuring compliance with client requirements. Maintain closeout logs and participate in weekly closeout meetings. Upload closeout packages to client software and ensure timely completion. Provide support to upper management and Project Managers as needed. Print and slip-sheet plans for review and release. Perform additional project-related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 3 years of recent/relevant experience in commercial retail construction Ability to read blueprints Ability to travel and be on location at jobsites Proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe, Microsoft Office , and project management platforms (AutoDesk, Wrike). Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of construction processes, documentation standards, and client coordination. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills. Customer service-focused approach to client and team interactions. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
