We're hiring a mechanical engineer to own satellite bus design and deployable structures. You'd architect the spacecraft that hosts GPU compute in orbit — including the deployable solar arrays and the deployable radiator panel that make orbital compute physically possible. This is the hardest unsolved mechanical engineering problem in orbital compute: building a satellite that folds into a launch fairing and unfolds reliably into a structure that can power and cool a server rack in vacuum. What you'll do: Lead bus architecture Design the deployable solar wings and the deployable radiator panel Own structural, thermal-mechanical, and deployment mechanisms across the stack What we're looking for: 5+ years spacecraft mechanical / structural engineering experience Hands-on work with deployable structures (solar arrays, antennas, radiators, booms) Strong fundamentals in structural FEA, thermal control, and launch loads Comfort with early-stage ambiguity and shipping fast US person status (ITAR)
Bonus:
Background at SpaceX, Amazon (Leo), Lockheed, Northrop Grumman Experience with roll-out or composite-substrate solar arrays Prior early-team experience
Pay:
From $160,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance
