Job Description

Structural Engineer (Data Centers / Industrial)
Location:
Santa Clara County, CA Represented by: LVI Associates LVI Associates is representing a leading multidisciplinary engineering firm in the search for a Structural Engineer with experience in data centers and/or industrial/manufacturing facilities . This is a critical hire supporting complex, high-performance facilities for global clients, with strong exposure to mission-critical environments. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of technically demanding projects, work directly with clients, and contribute to the delivery of highly resilient, large-scale infrastructure. Key Responsibilities The following duties are representative of the role and are not exhaustive. Responsibilities center on delivering high-quality structural engineering solutions on schedule and within budget in a collaborative team environment: Apply advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles to the design of data centers, mission-critical facilities, and industrial buildings Lead structural design efforts, including steel, concrete, and foundation systems , ensuring alignment with project requirements and performance standards Serve as a technical lead or project engineer , taking responsibility for key design decisions and, where applicable, sealing drawings as the engineer of record Plan, coordinate, and execute medium to large-scale projects , managing scope, budget, schedule, and interdisciplinary coordination Work closely with clients, architects, contractors, and MEP teams to resolve technical challenges and deliver integrated solutions Perform and oversee structural analysis, seismic design, and detailing , particularly in regions with elevated seismic demands Review and approve material selections, shop drawings, and construction submittals to ensure compliance and quality standards Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, supporting their development and project delivery Identify scope changes and proactively communicate impacts to project leadership Contribute to risk management efforts , including identifying vulnerabilities related to load paths, constructability, and long-term performance Support client engagement activities, including project presentations, progress updates, and relationship development Participate in business development initiatives and help expand the firm's presence in the mission-critical and industrial markets Maintain ongoing professional development and stay current with evolving codes, standards, and technologies Travel as required to support project and client needs Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required) PE license required ; SE licensure strongly preferred Typically 8+ years of structural engineering experience , with a focus on complex building systems Demonstrated experience delivering industrial, manufacturing, and/or data center projects Strong knowledge of U.S. structural design codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC, and applicable regional amendments) Experience designing for seismic conditions , including detailing for higher seismic design categories (D-F) Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as BIM platforms (ACC/BIM360), Bluebeam, and Navisworks Strong ability to lead multi-disciplinary coordination across complex projects Proven client-facing experience, with the ability to lead technical discussions and build lasting relationships Highly organized with strong communication skills and attention to detail What This Role Offers Opportunity to work on cutting-edge data center and mission-critical projects with leading global clients Exposure to large-scale, technically complex facilities with high-performance demands Clear path toward technical leadership and project ownership Collaborative, high-performing engineering environment with strong mentorship culture Competitive compensation package including base salary, bonus, and comprehensive benefits Confidential Search This search is being conducted confidentially by LVI Associates on behalf of our client.
