Structural Project Engineer Location:
West Sacramento, CA Compensation:
$100,000•130,000 base salary (dependent on experience) About the Company Our client is a well-established and growing structural engineering firm based in West Sacramento , specializing in the design and delivery of residential projects throughout Northern California. Their work includes single-family homes, multifamily developments, renovations, and custom residential structures. Known for their collaborative culture and high technical standards, the firm offers engineers the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of projects while working closely with experienced leadership. Position Overview The Structural Project Engineer will play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of residential structural engineering projects. This position offers a blend of technical design work, project coordination, and client interaction. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to construction and is eager to grow into a senior technical or project leadership role over time. Key Responsibilities Perform structural analysis and design for residential structures using wood-frame, light-gauge steel, concrete, and steel systems Prepare detailed engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for permitting and construction Manage assigned projects from initial design through construction, including scheduling, coordination, and quality control Coordinate with architects, designers, contractors, and clients to ensure designs align with project goals and budgets Review architectural drawings and provide structural input early in the design process Respond to plan check comments, RFIs, and construction-phase inquiries in a timely and professional manner Conduct site visits as needed to verify existing conditions, review construction progress, and support field issues Apply applicable codes and standards, including the California Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and NDS Participate in internal QA/QC reviews to maintain high technical and documentation standards Support and mentor junior engineers and designers as the team grows Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering 3-7+ years of professional experience in structural engineering, with a strong emphasis on residential projects EIT certification required; PE license preferred or actively working toward licensure Experience working in California and familiarity with local jurisdictions and permitting processes Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, RISA, SAP2000, or similar tools Experience producing construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with clients and project partners Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary ranging from $100,000 to $130,000 , depending on experience and credentials Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and paid time off Exposure to a diverse range of residential project types and technical challenges Direct access to firm leadership and a clear path for career advancement Collaborative, team-oriented environment with long-term stability and consistent project flow Get job alerts Share Copied to clipboard Related roles Mid-Level Building Enclosure Consultant
