Job Description

Civil and Environmental Engineer Virginia Relocation is availableDirect HirePay range (depending on years of experience) $109-167k
OVERVIEW
The Civil and Environmental Engineer is responsible for the site/civil work on substations, transmission lines and occasional distribution lines to include the review of foundations, concrete specs/breaks, grading, entrance roads, SPCC's, SWPPP's and the PCB oil disposal plan.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the preparation of the Cooperative's SPPC plan.
  • Review SWPPP's and storm water containment facilities at various locations throughout the footprint.
  • Knowledge of floodplain delineation, storm water management and drainage design.
  • Review foundation designs, site plans and entrance roadways.
  • Perform on-site inspections of foundations at jobsites, analyze concrete mixes both in the office or in the field and review strength test results.
  • Assist with the Cooperative's PCB oil disposal plan.
  • Compose technical reports, memoranda, and other written communication.
  • Communicate effectively with consultants and County, State or Federal review agency staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS A
four-year degree in either Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited school is required. A minimum of twelve years of experience in construction, design or environmental engineering fields as well as field experience. PE is desired, but requirement may be waived with years of experience. Must have the ability to organize, create and keep good records. Be proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and have the ability to learn new programs. Must know or learn Rural Utility Service (RUS) standards for Environmental Reporting. Must be good at communicating with others and able to work not only as an individual, but as a team. The ideal candidate will work across the Cooperative with other departments as needed. Research and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency. Attend training seminars to expand engineering knowledge and capacity. Mentor junior staff. Participate in Storm role as needed. Home office will be in Virginia. This position may also be considered for hybrid work. Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the system to complete work assignments, field audits and other work. Occasional travel for training will be required. In cases of outages or emergencies, work availability may be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. INDQT
