About the job: Kent is looking for a Civil Structural Engineer intern to be based in Deer Park, TX. A Structural Engineering Intern supports licensed engineers in the analysis, design, and documentation of structural systems for buildings, bridges, and industrial projects.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
Perform basic structural calculations for gravity and lateral systems. Provide administrative assistance as required. Infrequent field work such as assisting engineers with the gathering of as-built building information. Create 3D models and structural details using Building Information Modeling software, Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and project documentation. Research and apply building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, ACI). In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Pursuing a bachelor's level degree in Civil, Structural, Chemical, Mechanical or related disciplines. Overall GPA 3.0 or above. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employment visa sponsorship.
Communication:
Oral and written communication skills (including technical writing).

Basic knowledge of engineering concepts and ability to apply knowledge to complex problems. Computer skills and application of software programs. Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices. Ability to develop effective planning, project, and organizational skills.
