Job Description

Principal Structural Engineer Overview We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to support the design, analysis, and test of spacecraft, instruments, payloads, and ground support equipment. This role is ideal for an experienced analyst who thrives in high‑fidelity finite element modeling, structural dynamics, and test correlation within complex aerospace systems. You will work cross‑functionally with engineering teams to deliver structurally sound, flight‑ready hardware while supporting analysis, testing, and documentation throughout the development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis for spacecraft, instruments, payloads, optics, mechanisms, and ground support equipment
  • Apply closed‑form and finite element methods to stress analysis and structural dynamics problems
  • Develop and validate loads and environments for structures and components
  • Support structural and environmental testing, including static, modal, acoustic, shock, and random and sine vibration
  • Conduct analyses related to static strength, modal response, buckling, and frequency response
  • Generate clear, detailed analysis and test reports
  • Collaborate effectively across engineering, test, and program teams
  • Support multiple efforts simultaneously while managing competing priorities
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 6+ years of professional experience in structural analysis (additional experience strongly preferred)
  • Hands‑on experience using NASTRAN as a primary solver and source of truth
  • Strong background in stress analysis techniques, structural dynamics, and vibration analysis
  • Experience with random vibration and sine vibration analysis
  • Proficiency with pre‑ and post‑processing tools, including
Simcenter and FEMAP Note:
Advanced degrees may substitute for years of experience in accordance with client guidelines.
Preferred / Nice
‑to‑Have Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a structures‑related field
  • Experience with MATLAB (preferred); familiarity with Mathcad and Microsoft O365 is a plus
  • Active or prior U.S. security clearance
  • Experience with additional analysis tools such as LS‑DYNA, Abaqus, Adams, SolidWorks, or Python
  • Exposure to advanced FEM applications including explicit, transient, nonlinear, multibody dynamics, line‑of‑sight, and jitter analysis
  • Experience analyzing bolted and bonded joints, welds, electronics, antennas, fracture, and fatigue
  • Familiarity with advanced materials such as composites, ceramics, and high‑temperature materials Working Environment
  • Work may be performed in office and laboratory settings, production floors, cleanrooms, or outdoor and remote research environments
  • Occasional work in production areas requiring protective equipment
  • May require access to facilities in varying weather conditions What We're Looking For
