Job Title:
Project Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Project Engineer to support heavy highway and civil infrastructure projects across Colorado. This role includes working on underground utilities, large site development, and CDOT projects. As a Project Engineer, you will provide direct support to Project Managers and Superintendents, focusing on submittals, quantity takeoffs, schedule tracking, material coordination, and job cost analysis. You will interpret construction drawings and specifications, manage vendor and subcontractor solicitations, and generate billing quantities based on field production and contract requirements. You will utilize HCSS and project documentation systems to maintain accurate cost data, budgets, and schedules while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Responsibilities Provide direct support to Project Managers and Superintendents. Conduct submittals, quantity takeoffs, and schedule tracking. Coordinate materials and analyze job costs. Interpret construction drawings and specifications. Manage vendor and subcontractor solicitations. Generate billing quantities based on field production and contract requirements. Utilize HCSS and project documentation systems to maintain accurate cost data, budgets, and schedules. Ensure compliance with safety standards. Essential Skills Bachelor's in Construction Management or Civil Engineering. 5+ years in heavy civil/highway construction. Strong skills in reading plans, cost tracking, and production reporting. Experience with HCSS (HeavyJob/HeavyBid), submittals, RFIs, and public‑works documentation Ability to collaborate with field teams and travel to job sites throughout Colorado Solid understanding of safety and compliance Additional Skills & Qualifications CDOT project experience or familiarity with state DOT standards and specifications. Background in heavy highway, earthwork, utilities, or roadway infrastructure. Experience generating pay quantities and supporting progress billing. Proficiency with supporting software such as Bluebeam, Procore, or Primavera/P6. Previous work on projects exceeding $50M in value. Work Environment You'll work regionally in Colorado—no national travel—and be part of a boots‑on‑the‑ground team that values safety, growth, and hands‑on engineering. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Broomfield, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
